Apple formally dropped the words "Mac" from the name of its latest Operating System, OSX Mountain Lion, most probably because the Mac refers to hardware, and OSX is obviously an operating system.
Apple seems to integrate what they have learned from the iPad into the OSX, in an effort to make their products more uniform probably? When the Launchpad came to Lion, it seemed like a really big thing to many people, but not to me. I still use Snow Leopard, and I am happy. - All new features for China. ( Apple Ai Zhōngguó )

As you people know, China has been a very important market for Apple. They have a store in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai. And Chinese people take apple products very seriously.
